What is it?

Interactive: This machine embodies “Rage Fire,” a computational poem written by Casey Smith. A given reading of the poem is four lines long. However, each of these lines has 250 variations. You may adjust one of the lines to your liking, but the other lines will change unpredictably when you do so.

“POET.EXE” senses touches with a downward-facing infrared sensor, which scans across its artist-machined aluminum panel. The custom display panels and stepper motor drivers were designed and fabricated by the artist. A total of nine individual microcontrollers and computers operate in concert to power the artwork.
