What is it?

Past Snows shows fragmented video clips of a snowy scene in Utah, filmed by the artist in slow-motion.

It is a weathered, worn cast-iron junction box, joined with artist-painted plywood, hardware, and jute wire; its vacuum-fluorescent display shows imagery in black and “white” (bluish-green).

Each clip is about ninety seconds; some are clear, others enigmatic, echoing our own dimming memories of storms gone by.
